Lyrics I can’t bring myself to watch the news lately, I feel like all I seem to hear about these days are shootings, bombings, corruption, greed A never-ending cycle an overwhelming amount of negativity I look around and I’m struggling to see compassion, sometimes it feels like we’re not progressing There seems to be so much hate in the world you can’t escape it, and honestly, it’s just depressing. We’ve been led to believe that we live in this open minded liberal society yet out reality, speaks differently 2016, yet we’re still fighting for wage equality, black men are too afraid to walk down the streets, and prejudices are rife within the lgbt community If we’re so liberal and forward thinking, then please explain to me why so many feel unable to be who they want to be? The EU referendum results were disappointing - we voted to leave and since then hate crime has gone up - further dividing our nation and segregating our communities I’m tired of listening to the media pushing negative agendas, spewing stories to make money, educate yourself, talk to your neighbours, integrate with people only then will you see things clearly the truth is we’re all just humans, it’s as simple as that learn to accept and respect one another only then can we live peacefully You may call me cliche and in my own head, but last I checked starting a war and killing people never exactly led to unity Some walk around with their privilege - telling people to get out of their country so proud of being British - you haven’t earned shit mate - you got lucky you were born here by chance whilst they were born in poverty if things were the other way around and you were in their position, my guess is you’d think differently It’s embarrassing to me that to this day some people are still attacked for the colour of their skin harassed on the streets, judged before they can speak and called a terrorist for being a muslim We keep hoping for a brighter future, but that seems so distant when this is the state of the world we currently live in When will some realise that the problem isn’t muslims, blacks or gay people - it’s bad humans bad people do bad things we should blame the individuals who are committing crimes, the individuals behind the guns soon as we group these people under a broader social group we start creating fear and friction this then creates tension within our society, further promoting distance. Hate is not the answer people by succumbing to ignorance we might as well accept that the bad people have won. It’s 2016 and it feels like we’re going backwards We’re all human beings - why can’t that ever be enough You look at comments on twitter, Facebook, youtube, and the hate within society has never been so transparent. The only way we can move forward and live our lives, is if we can come together as one and choose to unite, These days it feels like being who you are feels more like a privilege than a right. And those who are brave enough are subject to hate crime, What a sad way for someone to have to live their life? I’m sad and angry, but mostly I’m just scared. the streets have never felt so unsafe and the most disheartening part of it all, is that humans are the ones to blame. we’re so divided - you can see it when you walk down the streets, everyones segregated - too afraid to embrace diversity. I’m finding it so hard be positive lately So please I urge you, if you have a voice, use it, Educate people, spread nothing but love and positivity, Cos right now, we so desperately need it.

I’m filled with so much hate I don’t even know what to do with it. I see pictures in magazines and when I look back at myself, I no longer like what I see. See they don’t show you the stretch marks, split ends and gap teeth - they don’t represent people like you and me. The irony when we're forced down messages such as ‘be yourself’ by celebrities. When they know full well that they’re partially to blame for all our insecurities. Since day one we've been told to do this, say that and if I wear this then a guy might just like me. Running my confidence to the ground. To this day I can’t hold a conversation without saying the word sorry. Like 15 gazillion times, to say that I’m apologizing for just being me. Some days I stay up awake at night and the silence is so loud it overwhelms me, I can’t sleep or eat. Filled with so much negativity til negativity became me. But I lie and carry on smiling cos that’s the person I want to be - so happy, joyful and carefree. People say just be confident - they don’t understand that you get tired, you get weak. I just need you to see that I’m filled with self hate and it consumes me. Because i wasn’t brought up to be proud of myself and love who I am, No I was told there were expectations and limitations and fought for every can’t to be a can. So filled with hate I suffocate, this is my fate…I tell myself as I try to pick myself up but it’s too late. I don’t want compliments or attention from passers by, I crave real love, not likes, from a social networking website. You know you start to create this self image that is so perfect, flawless and happy cos you think that that’s what is right. Wrong. See you can’t fill a void with lies, you can’t solve pain with short highs so you resort to late night cries and you wonder why? Sigh. For the longest time I would blame my environment, the media, my peers - And it took me years. To see that it’s not you, it’s me. If I want to change how I feel I have to start from within. Look into my soul, what’s beneath the skin. Cos the solution isn’t external don’t you see, you can’t solve your problems from what you see on your phone screen. The answer comes from who you are deep inside. All those thoughts and feelings you tried so desperately to hide. I am capable of so much more and I don’t need to hear that from you cos I know it for me. See when you open your mind you start to see things clearly - your potential, ambitions and dreams, - you become free. So for the first time in a long time I’m just going to let myself breathe - Today, I choose me.

Who am I? What am I doing here? What is my identity? What is my purpose? These questions are asked by nearly every living person. How we answer them will make a life-changing impact on how we see our world and how we live our life.
