How to Measure for a Custom Suit Before the measurements begin we will want to start with a few guidelines in order to obtain the most accurate measurements. It is ideal for the subject to be in a pair of trousers and shirt that fits well. The subject should remove all items from his pockets. Next subject should remove his belt and make sure his shirt is properly tucked in. During the measurement process the subject should remain in a relaxed posture. He should not suck in, flex or move out of a relaxed standing position. How to Measure the Chest for a Custom Suit Measure around the most full part of subject's chest while standing in front of him. The tape measure should be at the largest part of the chest in the front and just below the blades in the back, making sure the tape measure is level all the way around.
