Car Workout for BJJ and Martial Arts

Car Workout for BJJ and Martial Arts

►Take my 7-DAY MARTIAL ARTS CHALLENGE! http://senseiando.com/updates/ The next time you find yourself stuck in the car--especially at red lights or sitting in parking lots-- consider a car workout. Even practicing one move is better than nothing! But don't be an idiot. The exercises I show presume you always have your eyes on the road and you're paying attention to traffic. Do not do ANYTHING that would endanger your life or the lives of others. No practice is worth dying for... or killing for! Practice at your own risk! Let's take a look at a move or two for the following muscle groups... NECK. Press the back of you head into your head rest. This can help strengthen your bridging movements. To work the front of your neck, rest your arm against the door and press your forehead against the back of you wrist. So easy and so effective! SHOULDERS. Grip the wheel firmly and push yourself back into your seat. Go for full arm extension. Now pull yourself away from your chair, squeezing your back muscles. This push and pull movement is great for warming up your shoulders, chest, and back. GRIP. The best grip exercise I know is to squeeze your fist as hard as you can, then open it as wide as you can. Do that over and over as fast as you can, for as long as you can! Start off with your palms down for a set, then try a set with palms up. What a burn! SUBMISSION ESCAPES. You should include a little mental warmup along with your physical warmup. Specifically, keep one hand on the steering wheel (pinky down) and press up on your elbow. Yes just like an arm bar! Spend time getting over any fear of being injured and relaxing into the position. This will help you escape if you ever get caught in class. And you will! CHOKE. I saw Eddie Bravo do this in another video. It works great in a stopped car, say at a red light. Just put your foot up on your seat and voila! Your knee is the perfect piece of equipment for practicing your rear naked choke. Grab hold and squeeze away! CORE/ABS. Tilt your seat back a little and force yourself to sit up straight without it. Then you can lean back and perform mini-crunches. LEGS. Again if you have cruise control, dig your heels into the floor and press down. Imagine being in a leg press machine. If you try to actually raise your butt off your seat a tiny bit, you will get an incredible pump! Just remember to always put safety before any exercise. Your car workout can wait. Your top priority should be to arrive alive! :) THANKS FOR WATCHING! How to Make Dirty Fighting Work for Self-Defense

How to Make Dirty Fighting Work for Self-Defense

►Take my 7-DAY MARTIAL ARTS CHALLENGE! http://www.senseiando.com/updates/ What is dirty fighting anyway? Actually, there's no such thing as dirty fighting! There’s just fighting. When it comes to self-defense and you’re protecting your life or the life of someone you love, there are no rules. You do whatever it takes to keep the good guy alive. Some people think kicking in the groin or pulling the hair is fighting dirty. It’s fighting like a girl. I disagree! Why? Because if you take out dirty fighting moves from a real fight, you know what you get? Sports. MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling-- they all have rules. They also all have weight classes! That's because without dirty fighting moves, the bigger, stronger guy will almost always have an advantage over the smaller, weaker guy. If the smaller, weaker guy doesn’t fight dirty, there won't be much of a fight at all! Self-defense is not a sport. It’s a war. A war between the good guys and the bad guys. And all is fair in love and war. Especially war. So, how do you make “dirty fighting” work in a real-life self-defense situation? Keep fighting! Some people think if they fight dirty, then self-defense is easy. WRONG! Think about a fight like being locked in a closet. To get out, first you have to find a key to open the lock. Then you have to open the door. Then you have to move through the door. Same idea if you get caught in a choke. If you bite his arm, he's not just going to run away. You're still going to get choked! Maybe you opened the lock, but you didn’t open the door. Dirty fighting should be the beginning of your fight, not the end. If you bite his arm, then you need to control his arm... then change your position… then attack another vulnerable target... then escape. When it comes to dirty fighting, always train thinking, AND THEN. I bite and then I do this. I gouge the eye AND THEN I do that. Same idea applies with gouging the eye. If you reach out to hit a jab a bad guy in the eye, he may not care! He may be drunk or crazy. That's why you have to train yourself to keep fighting until you're safe. Don't be a "one hit wonder". Open the lock, open the door, and get through the door. Remember— if you're a good guy fighting to protect your life, don't think about fighting clean or fighting dirty… just fight. And keep fighting until you’re safe. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
